Rochdale Musical Theatre Company (formerly Rochdale Amateur Operatic Society) has contributed to the musical and cultural life of the local area for more than a century. We changed our name in 2015 as in more modern times, musical theatre more accurately describes our activities.
Although no performers are paid, the productions are certainly not of an amateur nature. We currently produce shows and concerts at Heywood Civic Centre. The company is a registered charity and has raised more than £50,000 for local causes over the years.
RMTC is made up of a dedicated team of muscial theatre lovers. Our large scale productions have received fantastic reviews as well as many NODA nominations and awards. Our talented members include highly trained singers, dancers, and actors, many of whom have gone on to work professionally.
Visit our shows or join our team – we look forward to seeing you soon.
We are very proud to reveal that RMTC’s last show, A Tale of Two Cities, received four award nominations from ACT (Association of Community Theatre) for Most Original Overall Production (Musical), Most Accomplished Actor in a Musical – Peter Norris, Most Accomplished Actress in a Musical – Rachel Brierley and Most Original Character Actor in a Musical – Phil Swift.
Congratulations to Peter Norris for winning Most Accomplished Actor in a Musical!
